Frank Mesaros has more than 20 years’ experience in the healthcare industry. His extensive background with laboratories includes research, academic, hospital-based, and independent lab settings, lending a practical perspective to Granite GRC analytics.
Frank also brings us his broad expertise in the areas of coding, billing, documentation compliance, and claims development. He managed a regional laboratory and served as director of the healthcare consulting division of Parente Randolph, a large accounting and consulting firm with a national healthcare client base that was later acquired by Baker Tilly.
He has also served as interim director of laboratory compliance for Stanford University Medical Center, contributed to a laboratory activity-based test cost analysis project for Penn State’s Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, and ran test charge masters for various laboratories.
Frank has performed transaction testing for the national drug store chain Rite Aid, as well as payment timeliness reviews for a national insurance company, and corporate integrity and compliance effectiveness reviews for hospitals across the country.
He served as an independent review organization for two of the nation’s largest renal laboratories, a national urology laboratory, and numerous hospital-based laboratories. Frank was instrumental in developing a quarterly audit methodology for analyzing laboratory services based on regulations unique to End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) labs.
A recognized expert in the coding field, Frank contributes columns to Healthcare Business Monthly and the membership journal of the American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC) on a frequent basis.
